Ditch the Allens lollies and The 'natural' confectionary company for these insanely delicious and easy 5 minute gut-glowing gummies.
The four flavours, Coffee, Pomegranate-Rose, Blueberry and Apple Mint are flavoured with fruit juice and are made with gut-healing gelatin for a superfood boost.
But I didn't just stop there creating fruit-gummies, I've added in Chlorophyl, Aloe Vera juice, Coconut water and Rose water to make these gummies more anti-inflammatory, hydrating, skin-glowing and of course gut-loving!
2 things I want to highlight in this blog:
1. GELATIN GOODNES
Gelatin is a complete nutritive protein source which provides essential amino acids necessary for tissue building, skin health and gut repair. It has been used for generations to make all kinds of delicious treats like jellies, sauces, and desserts - it's incredibly versatile. As a natural source of protein, gelatin is made up of essential, non-essential and conditionally-essential amino acids to contribute to the building and repair of bodily tissues. Gelatin is 20% glysine, 10% glutamine, 12% proline, and 12% hydroxyproline which are the amino acids essential for gut healing - hence why it's in Bec's Gut Pantry!
Gelatin can be added to smoothies and beverages, however does not completely dissolve in cold beverages, hence why I've created these easy gummies.
2. DECAF COFFEE QUALITY
If you LOVE the taste and/or smell of coffee, but don't want or are sensitive to the stimulating effects of caffeine, then Holy Joe's decaf brew is a great choice which is processed using the chemical-free Swiss Water Method. This removes 99.9% of caffeine, while leaving the same incredible flavour as our Original brew. Their beans are also sourced organically in Australia brewed especially dark using the cold drip method to deliver a deliciously smooth and rich taste. Plus added in 2 native Australian medicinal mushrooms: Lions Mane & Turkey Tail extracts - it doesn't get better than that! For these gummies, I used the original brew, but you can use decaf if you'd prefer - they both taste delicious.
Most cheap commercial brands won't be using this Swiss Water Method. They'll be using solvent based processes, where the caffeine is removed from the beans with the help of a chemical solvent, such as methylene chloride or ethyl acetate.
These sound nasty. And they are.
Ethyl acetate is produced commercially from ethyl alcohol and acetic acid, which can be either produced from natural ingredients or petroleum derivatives - except we're not informed with which source.
Because this solvent occurs in nature you’ll often see coffee beans decaffeinated with this method labeled as “naturally” decaffeinated - yet another flaw in our Australian food labelling laws.
Ditch the unethical pesticide-sprayed processed coffee brands like Nescafe, Moccona, Starbucks and Nespresso (yep, you too Clooney), and choose local organic, pesticide-free ethically sourced coffee.
Now for these gummy recipes.
I used all 100% pure juices, not from concentrates, with no added sugar or preservatives as well as NutraOrganics Grass-Fed Beef Gelatin. I also used Aloe Vera of Australia Aloe juice Natural as it is flavourless preservative free. You can use any flavour of fruit juice you’d like to customise these to your tastes, too! I added 2 tbs Canadian maple syrup for each flavour, however you can add adjust to your taste or not use it at all.
